As we are expanding our team, we’re looking for Global Payroll Implementation Lead to help us make a real difference in the Fintech industry. Ready to join us and shape the future of payments? Let’s make it happen!
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Global Payroll Implementation Lead to take full end-to-end ownership of the implementation of Deel as our global payroll platform over a six-month period.
This role sits at the heart of a complex, multi-country payroll transformation within a fast-growing, PE-backed fintech, operating across 10+ European countries and approximately 1,100 employees.
The Global Payroll Implementation Lead is fully accountable for ensuring the system is implemented correctly, compliantly, and in line with the target payroll operating model, governance framework, and control requirements. Acting as the primary payroll authority for the implementation, the role translates payroll, tax, and compliance requirements into accurate system configuration and challenges vendors and providers where needed to protect payroll integrity.
This role requires deep international payroll implementation expertise, strong delivery discipline, and the confidence to make payroll-led decisions in a high-risk environment where payroll accuracy and compliance are critical.
What you’ll do:
Own end-to-end delivery of the Deel payroll implementation across all countries, with accountability for payroll accuracy, compliance, and readiness at go-live;
Act as the central payroll lead and conduit between the internal payroll team, HR, Finance, Tax, Deel, and external country payroll providers;
Translate the agreed payroll operating model, governance framework, and approval controls into Deel system configuration and workflows;
Lead country-by-country onboarding, ensuring local payroll, tax, and statutory requirements are correctly reflected in the system;
Challenge Deel and external payroll providers on configuration, data handling, and process design to ensure compliance and control;
Own payroll data readiness, migration, validation, and reconciliation from legacy processes into Deel;
Lead payroll testing, parallel runs, issue resolution, and cutover activities, ensuring payroll is correct before go-live;
Identify, assess, and resolve payroll-specific implementation risks, escalating only where necessary;
Ensure variable pay, commissions, bonuses, and exceptions are correctly configured, controlled, and auditable;
Impose structure, discipline, and momentum across stakeholders to meet delivery timelines without compromising payroll integrity;
Ensure payroll teams and external providers are operationally ready to run payroll in Deel post go-live;
Provide clear, payroll-focused progress updates and risk assessments to senior HR and Finance stakeholders.
This role is perfect for you if you have:
Proven experience leading multi-country payroll system implementations, with hands-on accountability for payroll outcomes;
Strong practical knowledge of international payroll, payroll tax, and statutory compliance;
Experience working with outsourced payroll providers across multiple countries;
Demonstrated ability to translate payroll, compliance, and governance requirements into system configuration;
Hands-on experience with payroll data migration, testing, parallel runs, and cutover;
Confidence to challenge vendors and stakeholders on payroll correctness and compliance;
Strong delivery focus, with sufficient project management discipline to manage timelines, dependencies, and risks.
Nice to have:
Prior experience implementing Deel or similar global payroll platforms;
Experience operating in regulated environments such as fintech, financial services, or payments;
Exposure to commission-heavy or complex variable pay structures;
Experience stabilising or remediating fragmented payroll environments during transformation.
