About the role:
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a best-in-class 2nd Line of Defense (LOD) Risk management function. The successful candidate will promote an active risk management culture and provide 2nd Line of Defense risk oversight. You will work closely with international teams (including Bulgaria, Ireland and the UK) and will report to the group Chief Risk Officer.
As subject matter expert, you will provide advice services to assigned lines of business (LOBs) on risk program management topics, including all activities associated with risks, controls, testing, remediation, loss analysis, key risk indicators, reporting, policy and procedure and reporting development.
You will be responsible for ensuring risk program is consistent with Risk Policy as part of the Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework. Performing oversight activities over all regulatory risks including Operational Risks, Financial Crime Risks and Outsourcing Risks.
What you’ll do:
- Contribute to shaping risk awareness & culture across the organisation by developing a strong understanding of risks, and risk management processes.
- Identify and monitor risks within the organization.
- Review the Risk Management dashboards, including KRIs, to monitor risks across the organization and tailor reports for different organizational levels.
- Contribute to the further development of 2nd LOD Risk processes and tools.
- Contribute to policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with the Risk Framework.
- Help LOBs follow Risk Policies by providing feedback and guidance on managing risks, setting up controls, conducting tests, fixing issues, and reporting major risk and control problems.
- Review internal events, near misses, industry trends, and regulatory updates to evaluate the control environment and decide if actions are needed to reduce potential risks.
- Assist the 1st Line of Defiance and other corporate initiatives in reducing operational risks.
- Maintain effective and professional communication with senior management, regulatory agencies, legal counsel, and internal and external auditors.
- Support the CRO by leading or contributing to operational risk projects, initiatives, working groups, or other tasks to achieve team goals.
- Lead key initiatives such as:
- Control Assurance and themed reviews
- Business support on action tracking and management
- Resolution Planning
- Scenario Analysis
- Deep dives & root cause analysis
This role is perfect for you if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years in risk management or related experience in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd Line of Defense (strongly desired)
- Experience in Risk Reporting, Dashboards and KRI with specific focus on Operational, Resilience, Financial Crime and Outsourcing Risks
- Knowledge of (best in class) risk management practices with good understanding of risks and control frameworks
- Strong ability to work with all levels of management within the company
- Experience managing projects across multiple functional areas and dealing with multiple business partners
- Experience working on initiatives that require strategic planning/thinking
- Flexibility to switch priorities based on the needs of the company in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to grasp complex processes quickly and be able to identify risks and compensating controls
- Excellent problem solving and independent decision making abilities
- Team player mindset
- Strong leadership skills and ability to influence others
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to change and communicate changing requirements
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Self-motivation with a strong results and deadline-oriented attitude
- Proficient PC skills with experience in Microsoft Office
